Product Description

Natural motion meets ingenuity with the Precor EFX 5.17i elliptical crosstrainer. The EFX 5.17i is outfitted with Precor's CrossRamp technology, which is fully adjustable from 12 to 25 degrees. This helps the crosstrainer efficiently isolate and work your glutes, quads, hamstrings, and calves, a key to effective aerobic exercise. In fact, studies indicate that elliptical crosstrainers yield greater lower-body benefits than stairclimbers, stationary bikes, or treadmills, making them ideal for both casual users and athletes in training. In addition, crosstrainers minimize the impact on your joints and lower back, inviting you to exercise more vigorously and burn more calories.

The EFX 5.17i features an intuitive membrane console and adjustable CrossRamp (12 to 25 percent) technology.
The EFX 5.17i is a breeze to use thanks to the comprehensive membrane console, which offers intuitive keystroke sequencing, multiple feedback options, large LED displays, and accompanying graphics. The machine also offers plenty of workout variety, with up four programs and 20 resistance levels to help keep your routines fresh and challenging. Regardless of your fitness level, you'll find a workout that's right for you. And should you need to maintain your balance during the workout or adjust your position, you can grab the ergonomically correct handrails, which are tall enough for users of any height. Other details include a single-button QuickStart feature, a 19-inch stride length, and a powder-coated steel frame.

The EFX 5.17i--which measures 30 by 63 by 75 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 197 pounds--carries a 10-year warranty.

Almost gym-quality

Reviewer: M. Kim,
I bought the Precor 5.17i. on sale from Sport Chalet for $2,000 plus tax. It is very smooth and quiet. It is lacking a hand-grip pulse monitor, but it does work with chest-strap pulse monitors.
I tried other brands that were cheaper, but they felt cheap and wobbly. The Precor machines are solid and stable.
Overall, I am very happy with the 5.17i.
Solid machine

I have had mine for a number of years. It gets daily, hard use from both myself and my children.

The machine is smooth, solid, and always performs well.

I originally bought it because I used a Precor at a health club for several years. The health club had several other elliptical makes; I preferred the Precors. The differences between this model and the club model are not all that great, certainly not worth paying more money for. For example, this model has a painted steel front ramp on which the wheels roll up and down; the next model up has an aluminum ramp; both ramps do the same job well.

As part of the deal, I received a heart monitor that fits over my chest. The monitor works fine, but I do not use it much.

My husband and I love this elliptical. We were familiar with this model from our health club and find it even more appealing now that it's in our own home! So easy to assemble, we were using it shortly after it arrived. We are looking to add other Precor products to our home gym.
Better than most home elliptical machines

I purchased this elliptical machine brand new, a few years ago, to alternate with running. I have had other elliptical machines; however, this allows users to obtain a high level of perceived exertion when kept at a high resistance, 15 or 16, out of 20. The ability to adjust incline, benefits all muscles in the lower body, focusing on a few at a time if necessary. It is an added bonus if you do not hang onto the handle bars, giving you the ability to also use your inner core muscles for balance. Yes it is expensive, but if you are one who really works out hard and consistently, it is worth the price.
